2015 Resolutions Week 1 Update

Hello!  We are about a week and a half into the new year, but this is a one week update because I didn’t officially start many of my resolutions/goals until Jan. 5th.  As a very quick reminder, here are my goals for this year:

Health/Well Being

  • Lose 7 lbs. by 3/9/2015 (9 weeks) by following the South Beach Diet
  • workout (3x’s per week–cardio and weights)
  • Be more active
  • Brush and floss more often


  • Continue with debt reduction plan: eliminate credit card debt by 5/2015
  • Continue to pay on student loans
  • Retirement planning/savings


  • Travel more/ Go skydiving
  • Blog– continue to improve– update theme, better back-end organization, ad revenue (equal or exceed ad revenue earnings for 2014)
  • Read 12 books
  • Improve sewing skills (attend a class at Jo Ann Fabric (?), make 3 useable/wearable items)
  • Continue to improve my YouTube channel and post more frequently– a minimum of 2 video’s per month, ideally 3-4

I have had a good week insofar as my resolutions go!  Starting from the top, I followed Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet (SBD) all week long, except for Sunday because there was no way that I could because we went to my BF’s parents to belatedly celebrate his birthday.  I worked out twice, but I almost got the 3rd one in!  As my BF and I were driving to the gym on Saturday the heat went out in my car and I had to take it to the service center.  Lastly, I have been brushing and flossing more often.  I think I mentioned before that I am using an app to help me track my teeth brushing and it’s working.  So far, I’ve brushed twice a day for 9 out of 11 days.  The other two days I only got one brushing in.  I’m really happy with my progress so far in the health and well being category.

Finances is always an on-going type of goal.  I did make my monthly payments on some of my loans and I will make the payments on my credit card and other loan later this month.  I am super excited to report that I finally set up paycheck deductions for my 401k through my bartending job.  I put this on my resolution list last year and never did it and I’m kicking myself because it was so stinkin’ easy!  It was about 4 clicks of the mouse and I’m contributing 10%.  I want to set it up through my teaching job this week, also, and then get something going for savings.

The misc. category usually comes pretty easy because it’s the things that I like to do!  I added a blog post last week and I’m blogging today.  I put up a video on my YouTube channel and have two in the editing process right now!  I am also reading a self-help book nightly before bed.  I try to do a chapter or so a day.  I’ll tell you more about it in the future.
