It’s no secret that I’m behind on my posting.  Rather than getting even further behind I am going to basically give you a week-in-review- post.

I already showed you my outfit for Monday, but you haven’t seen Tuesday-Thursday.  On Tuesday, I wanted to wear something that would be easy to move around in.  Tuesday’s are my realllllllly long day and I didn’t want to fuss with a dress or a skirt, so I went with pants and flats!  I almost never wear black pants or flats.  But, I did on Tuesday!

On Wednesday, since I only have the one class I went with something a little more dressed up!  I don’t have to do as much walking, so heels, dresses, and skirts aren’t too bothersome.  Oddly enough, I wore black pants twice this week– albeit different pairs.

My outfits for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were all copies of a pin or inspired-by a pin!  Wednesday evening as I was getting ready for bed I realized that I didn’t pick out an outfit for Thursday.  On Monday, I picked out outfits for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but not for Thursday since I have time on Wednesday’s.  But, this Wednesday I was busy out shopping and running errands for my 8 year anniversary with my boyfriend.

This is where having a blog really comes in handy!  I can repeat an outfit from the past that I really liked and enjoyed.  As long as I pick one from awhile ago, I don’t feel bad!  I thought that’s what I would do Thursday morning, but I didn’t.  I went to my closet and picked out a dress because they are easy to wear and because I wore pants on Tuesday.  Then, I set about making it weather appropriate.  I thought that I was going to add a black v-neck sweater over it, but in the end I went with a purplish one, instead.

I also surprised myself by going with grey tights instead of black.  I was originally reaching for the black, but then I saw the grey ones and decided to wear them instead.  I think that it gave the look a bit more interest and are slightly unexpected.  I also think that they help to integrate the grey in the shoes extremely well.  I was super happy with the way that this last minute outfit came together!

There you have it!  My Blog-a-palooza week-in-review.  Hopefully, in the next few days I can post about my New Year’s Resolutions for 2015 and share with you the outfit that I wore for our 8 year anniversary and the wonderful experience that we had.

Thanks for reading,

Carla

I need to re-think my posting schedule!  Here it is Wednesday afternoon (almost evening) and I haven’t even posted about Monday, yet.  I meant to do it yesterday after my bar shift but I forgot and then I was tired and then I spent time unwinding and talking with my BF.  So, it didn’t happen.  I am starting to think that I am going to need to post Monday’s outfit that night and then Tuesday’s outfit on Wednesday.

Monday was my “work day.”  In the morning I like to sleep in and then do a lot of my errands.  This week that included going to the gym, painting my nails, picking out my outfits for the week, and doing my lecture prep and/or grading for the week.  It doesn’t sound like much, but you might be surprised how time-consuming some of those activities can be!  That leaves me enough time to shower and then get ready for class.

One of the blogs that I read put out a challenge to create a look based of a pin on Pinterest.  Not like I need any prompting with this one because I use it ALOT to plan outfits, but this look was based on this pin.  In the original, it is a pencil skirt and black turtleneck.  I have a bright pink skirt, but it doesn’t fit quite right and so I decided to put my turtleneck over this dress and belt it to create a very similar outfit.  I kept the idea of leopard print shoes and black accessories.  I was rather happy with this look and finding another way to wear this dress.

What do you think?  Would you have done something similar?  Let me know.

Thursday was one of my long days, but not my longest day!  I wake up around 6:30am to shower, get ready, eat breakfast, and get out the door by 8:15 to make it to campus around 8:40-8:45.  This gives me a few minutes to log in and check my e-mail one last time right before class starts and to print any last minute documents that I need.  I try to be in my classroom about 15 minutes before the start of class in case my students need to talk to me about any individual concerns.

I am getting more used to my break between my morning and afternoon class and figuring out how to fill the time with productive activity and be mindful of other teachers who may need access to the computer.

My outfit inspiration came from this pin on J’s Everyday Fashion blog.  I immediately knew when I saw it that I could easily re-create a version of it with items currently in my closet.  I started with the “statement” turquoise and silver earrings.  Next came my turquoise blazer.  That part was easy.  Underneath, she is wearing light-colored neutrals and that is what I attempted to do.  I tried this with khaki pants, too and it looked o.k. but they needed to be ironed and I didn’t feel like doing it!  Instead of going with grey and white or white/cream on white, I went for a more oatmeal color palette.  I tried to keep the same vibe by going monochromatic and letting the earrings really be the focal point.

Ordinarily, with an outfit with warm neutrals like tan, oatmeal, and cream I would have opted for gold toned jewelry, but since the focus is supposed to be the statement earrings and they are turquoise and silver my hand was forced in that direction.  But, I think that it makes for an interesting twist and challenging my notion that certain colors can only go with gold or silver jewelry.  Also, the layering was perfect for a cold wintry day in the northeast!
