Maybe Not

Wednesday was the conclusion of the first round of speeches.  It’s my only section that has a lot of people still in it– there were 16 speeches total.  I have more students in the class, but those were the ones that fulfilled the requirements to deliver a speech.  The one nice thing about when my students are giving speeches is that I have a very light week for prep work.  It’s a nice break coming off of grading what feels like a million outlines!

Overall, I am happy with the speeches.  All of my students who attempted a speech were successful—to varying degrees.  Plus, the schedule worked out in such a way that we are going to break in a really convenient spot for Spring Break.  They are actually going to have a break from my class and not have to do any big projects or homework assignments during their week off.  I don;t know if they are excited, but I am!

For my outfit, I tried to re-create an outfit that I’ve done before.  There are a few different versions of a pin on pinterest that involves a coral shirt with a blazer.  One is a brownish tweed blazer with light khaki/almost white pants and the other is with a khaki blazer and burgundy pants.  My outfit is a combination of those two.

This is not my favorite outfit, but it’s o.k.  I don’t think that my shades are quite right for the look.  I feel like the pieces are disparate and there is nothing that pulls everything together.  Oh well.

In other news, I am getting my hair did very soon and I am SO. FREAKIN. EXCITED.  Can you tell what type of look I am going for?

Also, don’t miss out my latest Youtube video— an Emma Stone Golden Globe inspired look, 2015!

Last week the weather was super-duper cold!  Most of the schools around us were closed and even several of the big 4 year universities were closed towards the end of the week.  I didn’t get many posts up last week because I came down with a stomach bug.  It was horrible, but I am glad that I am over it.

I had picked out dresses to wear last week on Tuesday and Thursday, but I didn’t wear them!  I ended up stealing my outfit idea for Wednesday for Tuesday.  That left me in a bit of a lurch for the rest of the week, but I figured it out.

It’s warmer this week, even though it’s still in the teens, so I am planning on wearing those dress outfits that I picked out last week during this week!  See, it all works out in the end.

Monday I went into the archives and pulled out an oldy, but a goody!  I was lacking a bit in time and inspiration so rather than trying to spend all afternoon coming up with an outfit I just repeated an old idea.  I know, the horror!  In my defense, I haven’t worn this outfit since February of last year, so I think that it’s o.k.  Plus, it’s not an exact duplicate.

You can see in some of the poses that I had pulled my hair back with a bright pink bow bobby pin.  I liked it at first, but as I took my pictures and reviewed them I decided that I didn’t like it and it got the ax.  LoL.  It’s also a bit different than the first time that I wore it because I am doing it with a different skirt, this one is a much darker khaki color, different jewelry, no belt, and I’ve tucked the edges of the neckline under to hide the fact that it’s scoopneck and the dress shirt is “v-neck.”

My M/W section kicked off the first round of speeches for this semester.  The students who spoke did well— I am always proud of them for getting up in front of their peers and getting through it.  I don’t grade as hard as they think I do, either.  Everyone does fairly well on the first speech if they do it.  Then, I started looking at the nitty-gritty.

As I mentioned earlier, I picked this outfit out last week to wear to either my Tuesday or Thursday class.  But, it was too cold.  So, I wore it yesterday instead.  I was thinking about replacing the grey tights with black fleece-lined leggings and my black knee-high boots, but I decided not to go that route.

As my BF was leaving for work, I ran out of the bedroom with one grey boot and one black boot to ask his opinion.  In typical dude fashion, he said wear one of each!  But, then when I gave him a dirty look he picked grey.  I originally thought that the black boots would tie in the black blazer better, but the grey ones looked better with the tights and the colors in the dress.  This dress doesn’t get a lot of wear, but here are some of the other ways that I’ve styled it:

I’ve done it twice with a cardigan and tights, twice with nude hose and silver/grey shoes, and once with a royal blue blazer.  Do you have a favorite?  I know I do!

School Spirit

Originally, I had planned to wear dresses both Tuesday and Thursday.  However, the weather did not cooperate.  I was very tired and cold on Tuesday morning and the last thing that I wanted to do was put on a dress.

My BF is sick and he was being a very noisy sleeper.  I actually ended up going out to the couch to try to get some good, solid sleep.  It worked o.k.

I titled this “School Spirit” because my highschool and college colors were blue and gold.  I was going for a mix of navy and cheerful yellow, but this was the closest that I could manage with my closet.

Hope you like it!
