WooHoo!

I mentioned in my last post that I had a goal of doing my hair, makeup, and wearing a cute outfit all on the same day.  So, last Friday I was selected to attend a quarterly round table meeting with my boss’ boss and represent my team.  So, naturally I wanted to look more polished and professional than I do on an everyday basis.  That’s sort of the great thing and the worst thing about working in a call center– no one see’s you so if your hair is sticking up in all directions and there’s toothpaste crusted on your shirt it can be your own secret.

I started with navy trousers and then added this printed blouse.  It’s new and I thought that it paired really well with these pants then to keep it more Summery I chose a yellow cardigan.  I added an oversized gold watch and navy pumps to complete the look.

Basic Black

I wore this very basic outfit last Tuesday.  There’s nothing really special about it– it’s a short-sleeve crew neck black t-shirt that I’ve had for years, my lighter wash boot cut jeans, and a pair of Chucks.  But, this day was a milestone for me because I styled my hair.  I know, I know.  But, lately I’ve only really been doing my makeup and just letting my hair do whatever.  So, on this particular day the goal was to do simple and easy makeup and take time to style my hair.  It’s the little things, y’know?  Stay tuned because later in the week my goal was to do both my hair and makeup on the same day and pick out a cute outfit. I’ll let you know if I was successful.

Monday morning always seems to come quicker than any other day, amiright?  Our Father’s Day was very busy.  My husband and I got up relatively early for a weekend day and went grocery shopping.  Then, we went to visit my parents around noon to celebrate Father’s Day.  We spent about two hours hanging out at my parents and then we had to head to our next stop.  We celebrated my mother-in-law’s belated birthday and Father’s Day so on the way to their house we had to stop to get cake and ice cream.  We also grabbed lunch at Dairy Queen.  My in-laws live about an hour away so we got there around 4pm and hung out, ate cake and ice cream, and lounged around in the living room for a few hours.  At around 7:30pm, or so, we arrived back home.  The laundry has started to pile up so I needed to throw in a quick load.  Once the laundry was dry we folded it, put it away, and got ready for bed.

It was a day filled with lots of family, travel, and chores.  Not exactly my favorite kind of day but that’s how it goes.  Anyway.  I wore the top half of this outfit on Sunday and then decided to wear it again on Monday morning with dark wash boot cut jeans and my knock-off Sperry boat shoes.  Truth be told I think that it looked better with the olive-green shorts that I paired it with on Sunday but I’m not 100% sure because I didn’t take any outfit photo’s.  This is just another example of an outfit that I thought looked one way in my head but then when I see the pictures it looks different from I thought.  And, not in a good way.
