Whoops!

I didn’t do so well last week with posting every few days.  I hope that you’ll forgive me– as I mentioned in the last few posts, I had out-of-town guests coming in on Friday and a baby shower/housewarming party on Saturday.  Needless to say, the latter half of the week was spent in preparation.

However, I did have class on Wednesday.  The weather has certainly turned more Fall-like and it’s time to pull out my sweaters, tights, and boots.  Honestly, this makes getting my pregnant body dressed much easier.  Last Wednesday, I chose to go with a cotton maxi-dress that has a paisley pattern with burgundy, magenta, and mustard.  Over top I went with a lightweight crew neck magenta sweater.

To balance out the busy pattern on the bottom half and add some interest (other than the belly) to the top portion of the outfit, I added a gold and purple pendant necklace.   I went with simple gold stud earrings and my oversized gold watch.  For footwear I chose to go with my short tan suede-like booties.  I thought that they gave the outfit a bit if a bo-ho vibe.  My husband complimented me on my outfit that evening which is always nice.  Then, when I was getting ready to leave for class that evening I couldn’t get one of my shoes on!  My feet are definitely a bit larger– I’d say between 1/4-1/2 size.  My husband came to my rescue with a shoe horn and helped me shove my shoe on so I could go to work.  LoL.

What do you think?  Do you like this outfit?  Would you wear it– pregnant or not?

Olive You

I can’t believe that we are in week 9 of the semester!  I have 3 courses this semester and other than using a different text and online learning management system I have kept most things the same.  But, this semester feels different.  I don’t feel that I have reached the same level of relationship with these classes at week 9 that I have in the past with classes.  With my evening class we are pretty close.  Everyone has settled in and gotten used to each other.  But, I am struggling with my other two classes and I don’t know how to fix it.  It’s really bumming me out.

On Monday I went with Fall shades of olive-green and khaki.  I started with the maternity khaki pants and then built the outfit from there.  I was hoping that this sleeveless button-up blouse could still work and for the most part, it did.  It had enough give at the bottom to accommodate the bump without getting hiked up and showing my belly.  Plus, it’s longer in the back so it gave me some coverage on the boot-ay as well.  But, if I’m being honest it doesn’t really work in the bust area.  If the blouse sits just right it’s fine, but otherwise the second button is straining and gaping.  I did wear a white tank top underneath but that gave little help.  I went with an olive-green boyfriend cardigan over top, brown Oxford style shoes with a slight heel, green and silver statement earrings, and my silver watch.  This is about as good as it gets for a Monday afternoon at 29 weeks pregnant.

Midterm

Believe it or not, this past week was week #8 of a 15 week semester.  It seems like this semester seems to be going much faster than past semesters.  I can’t believe that we are already half-way through.  My students have delivered 2 of 4 formal speeches and they just completed their essay exam Midterm (which I should be grading as we speak).  Right now, time is definitely something that is on my mind.  It’s important that I know what week of the semester that I am in so I can make sure my students are meeting certain benchmarks.  Also, time is playing a huge role in my personal life for much the same reason– it’s important for me to be cognizant of what week I am at of my pregnancy so that I can make sure I am doing all the things I need to (check-ups, vaccines, tests, baby class, pre-registering, packing a hospital bag, etc.)

I am super excited that my sister and her husband are coming in to town at the end of this week.  We are hosting my baby shower at our new home so we’ve made it a combined baby shower and housewarming party.  My husband and I aren’t too traditional so we’ve made it co-ed and family friendly and I can’t wait to celebrate my blessings with everyone.  In fact, I may or may not have already put up some decorations just to see what we have and might still need.  And, that reminds me– I still need to share pictures of the new house.  I haven’t done much decorating.  I may have mentioned it before but I am basically skipping over Halloween and Fall decorations and getting geared up for Christmas.  With the party I didn’t want to put up a bunch of Fall decorations and then have to take them down or decorate around them.  Plus, our house is so new to us that I don’t want to go putting a bunch of nail holes in the walls quite yet.  The only decorations that I have hung up have used existing nail/screw holes.  I already have my Christmas theme picked out and I would go through my Christmas totes to take inventory of what we have that will work with the theme and what we need to buy if it weren’t for the impending party.  LoL.  After the party, it’s game on!

I digress.  On Wednesday the weather was more Fall-like and I was able to pull out my brown riding boots.  I am actually excited for the cooler temps because I have almost outgrown all of my non-maternity dress pants and skirts.  Many of my dresses can still work with leggings or tights layered underneath– but it’s been too warm lately for layering.  I swear I’ve done this outfit before, pre-pregnancy, but when I looked through my media gallery I couldn’t find a picture.  So, maybe I didn’t?!?

This outfit begins with my black faux-wrap dress.  I’ve kept the fabric belt on it but I’ve wrapped it around the front of my waist and tied it in the back.  Then, I added nude colored tights and my flat brown riding boots.  To further pull in the warm brown tones I’ve gone with my oversized gold watch and gold earrings that have small accents of turquoise and peach.  The statement necklace is a multi-strand turquoise beaded necklace and a dark denim jacket with bronze snaps completes the look.  I’m torn on this outfit.  On one hand I like how I’ve mixed brown and tan but then on the other hand I think that black riding boots would look better.  What do you think?  Black boots or brown boots?
