Apparently

Apparently, I was so caught up in giving you my Thanksgiving outfit idea’s that I didn’t post my outfit from Wednesday. And then, all weekend I kept thinking about posting my outfit from Thanksgiving and pictures of my holiday decorating. And then I noticed that my Thanksgiving Eve outfit didn’t make it to the Web.

So, here it is.

Wednesday was a very busy day for me, to say the least! I was going to take over the cooking for Thanksgiving this year and host it at my house for my parents and in-laws, but a few twists and turns of events prevented that from happening. I still cooked my first turkey ever, but I cooked everything on Wednesday and packed it up on Thursday and took to my BF’s house for a “pop-up” Thanksgiving.

I got up early on Wednesday and made a pumpkin pie. I used canned pumpkin and a frozen pie-crust, but whatever. Then, I made Stovetop stuffing. Afterward, I peeled 3 lbs. of potatoes, cooked them, mashed them, and whipped them to smooth, creamy goodness. Once I had all of the sides done, I turned my attention to the turkey. I followed Alton Brown’s cooking directions and it worked out perfectly. I had to leave for class while my bird was in the oven, so it was up to my BF to take him out of the oven. Here is my first ever turkey straight out of the oven:

After it cooled a bit, he carved it up so that we could transport it easily.  When I arrived home from class, I made gravy from the pan drippings.  This is another thing that I have never done.  I was really nervous, but I had watched a bunch of You Tube videos and read a lot of recipes.  Making gravy took longer than I had expected.  My BF and I had planned to go out to eat since he usually has dinner prepared for me when I get home from class.  After the gravy, we went to dinner and then had plans to hook up with my Uncle for some cocktails.  But, that fell through.

I barely remember Wednesday night’s class, but I remember that it zoomed by.  I am going to miss this group of students.  I’ve really lucked out with both of my sections and I’ve had my smoothest semester to date!

My Thanksgiving was wonderful and I have a lot to be thankful for. I am very thankful for all of you that read this blog and support me! And, for those of you who watch my You Tube videos. It means a lot to me. Here is/was my Thanksgiving outfit:

Friday morning, I enjoyed the opportunity to sleep in.  Normally, I sleep in on Thursdays and have to get up early on Friday for class, but this week it was the other way around.  Once I woke up I was a fluffy of activity, though.  I took down all of the Halloween/Fall/Thanksgiving day decorations and cleaned the house in preparation of decorating for Christmas.  I also dug all of the totes of decorations out of storage and brought them and the tree inside.  I rearranged the furniture in the living room, dining room, and office to make room for the tree.  Lastly, I winterized the bathroom with our blue, white, and snowman theme.  We built upon the start that we had last year.  Plus, it was easy to put up the new shower curtain, towels, and rugs after I cleaned the toilet and vanity.

As I write this on Monday afternoon, we are about 75% done with our decorating.  We still need to do the dining room, finish the mantle, above the window, the entertainment center and get a few odds and ends.  (It sounds like a lot, but it’s not.)  I’ll post plenty of pictures once it is all done!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.  Leave a comment with the phrase “Kris Kringle.”  Shhh, it will be our little secret.
