My outfit on Wednesday was based off of this pin.  There is something about this photo that really resonates with me!  I love how fresh-faced the woman looks– her makeup is definitely done but yet simple.  I also love how she is pairing a casual striped top with a vibrant red blazer and a statement necklace–sans earrings and her hair is perfectly done/un-done.  I’ve done a recreation of this look, before, but this is the first time doing it while pregnant.

I feel like I wear this blue and white striped maternity t-shirt all.the.time.  I really don’t, but it does feel like I do.  As in the inspiration photo I paired it with a red blazer, a silver statement necklace, and bold red lips.  I went with red ballet flats and black maternity trousers to finish the look and make it work-appropriate.  I went without bronzer and a heavy dose of highlighter to get that same fresh-faced glowing look.  Honestly, I feel puffy and pregnant in this photo and not so dewy and glowy.

Here are three other ways that I have worn this top:

Over the weekend the temperatures dropped to more Fall-like temperatures for Northeast Ohio and they are expected to stay that way for the first part of this week, at least.  This morning when I went to class the temperature was around 70 degrees.  I like living somewhere where there are seasons and different temperatures but I am most definitely of the mid-range– not too hot and not too cold.  For this reason, Spring is my favorite season followed closely by Fall, then Summer and lastly Winter.  Winter would be great if it only lasted for December and January and then it was over!  Anyway.

For this Fall-like weather I copied the above image from Pinterest with a few tweaks to put my own spin on it.  First, I started with my chambray shirt dress and basic black leggings.  Then, I added my boyfriend cardigan in mustard and my oversized gold watch.  This is where the similarities end.  I very well could have gone with my black riding boots but I chose to go with my cognac brown ones, instead.  I thought that the golden-brown color worked well with the color of the cardigan.  Plus, I tend to associate brown more with Fall than I do black.  I am not always a fan of mixing black and tan but I think in the right situation it can be done.  I can’t see the hair and makeup of the inspiration so I was on my own and I went with my large gold leaf earrings, bronzey brown eye makeup, and an orange-y lip color to complete my Fall look.  And, for the first time I wore my hair slightly wavy/disheveled to class.  If I had a little more time I would have used the flat-iron to accentuate the waves but I didn’t.

I really liked this outfit and how I was able to so closely copy from the Pinterest photo.  I also liked that this shirt dress and legging combination is easy to wear and comfortable at my current status of 26 weeks pregnant.  What do you think?

Well-Heeled

Monday morning the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to take advantage of it.  I picked a faux wrap-dress that I had styled with a royal blue blazer.  Because the weather was in the upper 80’s I knew I didn’t need the blazer.  I thought about wearing red ballet flats for a pop of color but I’ve done that before and I wanted to try something different.  In the end, I let my layering tank dictate my shoe choice.  I needed something under the dress to keep it professional and modest.  I decided to go with a burgundy layering cami because it is a great Fall color.  That led me to choose my burgundy peep toe heels.  I almost never go without pantyhose but on such a warm day I did opt to skip them.

I went with my oversized gold watch and reddish colored statement earrings.  For my makeup I chose a bronze eye look and a matte burgundy lip color.  I thought that the outfit was simple but effective.  In the end, I just couldn’t bring myself to wear the heels and I went with black ballet flats, instead.  I didn’t even mind that the silver medallion didn’t match my gold-toned jewelry.

We are in week 5 of classes and things are starting to ramp up for me and my students.  I am sad to say that I don’t think some of them were ready for the acceleration.  Additionally, I am in week 25 of my pregnancy.  My students are starting to figure out that I am in fact pregnant and ask questions about when I’m due and what I’m having.  Hopefully once we get over this hump it will be a fun semester.
