Lately I haven’t been pre-planning my outfits.  I really should get back in to the habit because I think that I come up with outfits that look and feel good as opposed to feeling overwhelmed at the possibilities and spending a lot of time in the morning searching through my drawers and closet only to find out that my idea doesn’t work outside of my head.

That’s sort of what happened to me on Friday.  I had decided that I wanted to wear my kimono scarf shirt thing.  Even though I wore it with a white t-shirt, skinny jeans, and a pendant necklace last time I still wanted to wear it with a white t-shirt this time.  But, I couldn’t find my short-sleeved white t-shirt.  It is possible that it could be in the laundry basket but I’m not sure.  So, I had to come up with a new plan.

Although I wasn’t too fond of the outfit and felt sort of off the whole day, I had to put clothes on my body to go to work.  I ended up going with an orange-y t-shirt, dark wash cropped jeans, and gold ballet flats.  This time around I tied the front two ends of the shawl to make it more of a “shirt” and less of a topper/completer piece.

I was excited to do something more colorful with my eye makeup that morning.  It doesn’t really show very well in the photo but I did go with a mauve/burgundy/plummy eye look.  But, I didn’t really do anything to my hair.  That’s been the trend lately– I just haven’t wanted to get out the heat styling tools in the morning because it’s been hot and it’s time-consuming.  In this photo my hair is still a little damp.  Later than morning I ended up pulling it up into a quick and messy bun.  I should really think about getting a more Summer-friendly hair do.  Suggestions?

I’ve mentioned before that with my new schedule I am off on Wednesday and Sunday.  Because of my mid-week day off Thursday can often feel like a second Monday.  I sometimes stay up too late on Tuesday night because I don’t have to get up early on Wednesday and then it throws of my wake/sleep schedule for Thursday.  Also, I can often be a bit sluggish getting into the work groove on Thursday mornings.

My outfit is based on several pins (1,2,3,&4) but mostly this one, here.  I’ve done many iterations of this basic outfit before, too: orange sweater, tan or khaki pants, scarf, and gold-toned accessories.  The one small detail of this specific combination is the addition of leopard print ballet flats.

Friday morning’s always have a buzz of excitement about them because most people are excited for the weekend.  I had picked out a dress, tights, and cardigan combination but I didn’t feel like wearing it.  I was chilly when I woke up and I didn’t want to have to fuss with my outfit.  Instead, I opted to go with something more casual and fuss-free.

This outfit isn’t based on a pin it’s just a creation based entirely on comfort.  I picked out the long-sleeved striped henley shirt first, my most comfortable pair of boot cut jeans, and then added an oatmeal comfort for some more warmth, a tan belt and knock-off Sperry’s to complete the look.  I was tempted to go with a purple eye shadow look but instead I went with a dark brown eye look and purple on my lips.  This outfit isn’t anything ground breaking but I was at ease.

On Wednesday I was in a funk of a mood because I was starting to run late and my planned outfit fell apart.  The day did not start on the right foot.  But, Thursday was a new day and a chance to redeem myself, if you will.

The khaki skirt that I planned to wear on Wednesday didn’t work out, so I chose a different khaki skirt to incorporate into my outfit for Thursday.  I had originally planned on wearing my dark wash skinny jeans but switched it up.

When I was creating my outfit I had that feeling that I had worn it before but when I quickly combed through my galleries I couldn’t find an exact repeat.  The two outfits above are nearly the outfit that I wore on Thursday: orange sweater, scarf, khaki bottom.

Because I wasn’t originally planning on wearing a skirt on Thursday I didn’t shave my legs and they had one-day stubble.  I thought about going without pantyhose because I wanted to wear my suede booties and the outfit was sort of casual, but in the end I couldn’t do it and put on a pair of pantyhose.  These are a new pair and I’m not sure how well you can tell in the pictures but they have a sheen to them that I don’t particularly care for.  However, I did get quite a few compliments on the color of my sweater, my outfit in general, and my curly hair-do that boosted my ego and made me feel great.  Also, I did a little something different with my eye makeup and I really liked it.

Friday we were scheduled to do 2 hours answering phone calls.  Most of the people in my class, including me, were freaked out about it.  I knew that I could do it and I would survive, but I was still feeling apprehensive.  There are lots of things that we haven’t been trained on and if we had any of those situations we had to transfer the calls to a more seasoned rep.  Because I knew that I was anxious about our first call time I didn’t want to have to be worrying or fussing with my outfit.

I chose to wear a pair of purple ankle length pants.  I did a version of the pin on the left and paired it with a black t-shirt.  Mine has a lace texture that gives it a bit of interest in person.  I don’t have a necklace that has quite as much impact as the left photo so I just went with a single silver twisted necklace.  I added a silver belt, silver hoop earrings, and a silver watch.  I did try this outfit with heels and I thought that it looked great, but I wanted to go more of the comfort route so I went with my black ballet flats with silver medallion.  Also, I added my faux leather motorcycle jacket.  I toggled between wearing the jacket and taking it off throughout the day.  It felt like a piece of armor to shield me from the anxiety of taking calls for the first time.

And you know what?  After our 2 hours of taking calls was done I wanted to do it again!  I guess that’s a good thing since it’s going to be my job, LOL.  I wasn’t dreading doing it because that’s what I signed for, but I was dreading being new at it and not knowing the answers to all of the questions and that sort of thing.

It’s been a long week and I am happy that it’s the weekend!  Luckily, my husband and I don’t have too many things on the list so its going to be a great opportunity to relax and get re-charged for the next week.  I have two more weeks of classroom training and then I will be taking calls all day, everyday in a controlled environment.  That secondary training situation (Academy) is supposed to last anywhere from 12-15 weeks depending on how well I perform.  Of course, I want to be great and graduate in 12 weeks but time will tell.

Thanks for reading.
