Please excuse my absence while I focus on establishing our new normal.  Our daughter was born on Sunday January 7, 2018.  More details to follow but for now she’s our everything. 🙂

Last year I undertook the task of taking inventory of my shoe collection and figuring out which shoes were under-utilized and which ones had served their purpose.  Now, I’d like to update the ones that I’ve since purged and replaced.

These 4 pairs of shoes have been removed from my collection.  Each of these pairs of shoes had seen better days and were showing lots of wear and tear.

The top row of shoes have been replaced by their new counterparts in the bottom row.  The dark brown oxford-style shoes have been replaced by a slightly more casual pair.  The dark brown round-toe pumps with gold accents have been replaced with a basic pair of cognac brown pumps and the black pointy-toed heels have been replaced by a similar pair.

The top row of shoes have been replaced by the bottom row.  The black t-strap pumps are serving the same function as the Mary Jane and the T-strap in the top row.  The basic black pumps with scalloped edge are still in my collection, but I don’t wear them too often.  They have also been replaced partly by the t-strap and the black espadrille shoes.

The other new shoes that have joined my collection include these red ballet flats.

These shoes are most likely going to be purged from my collection soon:

The shoes above have either been replaced (the red ballet flats), are starting to show a lot of wear and tear (the purple ballet flats, brown pointy-toed shoes, grey and black pumps) or, simply never get worn (the black wedge flats.)

These shoes need to be worn more often:

I’ll have to work on incorporating these shoes into my outfits more so that they can earn their place in my collection.

This week I have worn two outfits that were inspired by pins.  Sometimes my outfits are a literal translation and other times they take on a life of their own.  Here’s what I mean:

This outfit that I wore to work on Tuesday is a copy of this pin, here.  I’ve paired my dark wash skinny jeans with a drapey orangey-red top, a multi-strand turquoise necklace, brown shoes, and gold accessories.  Because it is Winter I did add a red boyfriend style cardigan to the mix but I think that you can still clearly see the inspiration.

This outfit was inspired from this pin, here.  (If you haven’t clicked that link you are going to want to do so before continuing on or this won’t make sense.)

I planned to wear this magenta and burgundy patterned cowl-neck top with my navy pencil skirt, khaki blazer, long-strand pearl necklace, and cognac pumps.  But, the zipper on my navy skirt needs to be replaced and the skirt was a no-go.  So, I decided to go with this light-colored khaki skirt, instead.  Once I traded out the navy skirt for this light-colored khaki one the tan colored khaki blazer that I had planned to wear looked completely silly.  I swapped that out for my magenta cardigan.  I did, however, keep the pearl necklace and the cognac pumps.  LOL.
