Yesterday was a very productive day.  I was able to get a lot of things, both big and small, accomplished.  I felt good about getting things done!  I woke up kinda early, about 8 am.  I didn’t want to get out of my warm, cozy bed right away so I read a bit in my book.  Eventually, I did climb out of bed and I went to the bank, Wal-Mart, and to the gas station.

Then, I came back home to do some school prep. and laundry.  I wanted to work out, but I just didn’t get to it.  I did everything on my list but that.  I am trying so hard to get 3 workouts in, but so far this year I have not been successful.  Sigh.  Because it wasn’t a million degrees below zero and it wasn’t snowing for most of the day yesterday it almost felt balmy and Spring-like outside.  I rather enjoyed it as I was out and about doing my errands.  However, it didn’t last long.  About the time that I needed to start getting ready for class the snowflakes started to fall.  The drive to class was o.k., but by the time class was over and I was driving home the roads were snow-covered and slick.  I was not excited!

Luckily, I have a short walk from my home to the car, the car to the building, and then back so I went ahead and wore a skirt as I had planned.  I am so glad that I snapped this skirt up when I saw it because it is quickly becoming a workhorse in my closet.  This outfit began from inspiration of this pin, but then I took it into a whole different direction!

The inspiration photo has a dark brown pencil skirt, a light blue button up dress shirt, a tan/oatmeal/light brown cardigan, a short gold necklace, leopard print pumps, and a tan and brown bag to pull it all together.  I started composing this outfit with the dark brown pencil skirt.  Next, I grabbed this cardigan out of my drawer.  It was a Christmas gift and I was hoping that it would work for this outfit.  Oddly, I don’t have a plain light blue dress shirt.  I grabbed the two closest items from my closet: a chambray button up and a blue and white striped button up.  I ultimately decided to go with the chambray shirt because I wore the other shirt last Tuesday.  I thought about wearing either my leopard print pumps or flats, but in the end decided against it.  First, I wore both of them last week and I’ve yet to wear these brown pumps this semester.  Secondly, both of my leopard print shoes are faux-hair and not the best thing for wet or damp weather.  Lastly, I chose not to go with a gold necklace because there are silver and pearly snaps on the chambray shirt and silver snaps on the cardigan.  I did go with a bronzey pair of feather earrings, though.

Although I don’t think that this outfit looks very much like the inspiration photo, I like the outfit very much.  It is a good mix of casual and comfort with professional and polished.  These types of looks are my favorite!  What about you?
