This is a bit of a random over here, over there post!  But, I have so many things that I want to share with you.  I could make them all itty bitty separate posts, but I like to sort of just throw it all in one, y’know?

Monday of this week was my exam for my M/W students.  I always seem to end up with an exam on the last day of exam week.  Such is life, I guess.  I thought about wearing jeans and going the super casual route, but I’ve done that before and I decided to wear something more business casual.  Not too much more business casual, though mind you.

I pinned this outfit a while back because I knew that I had two pieces in these color/prints that I could pair together and get the same effect:

I layered this sweater over a blouse because I needed an extra bit of warmth for the Wintery weather. I thought about wearing my turquoise bubble necklace with this outfit to check the box of “statement necklace” but I’ve worn it so many times this semester that I decided against it. I was going to pull in a magenta and gold statement necklace, but it didn’t sit right with the collar of the sweater and I wanted to wear silver-toned accessories. Therefore, I went with a short silver peacock necklace. The print on my pants doesn’t photograph very well, but it is close to a houndstooth print.

Fall Semester 2014 has been put to bed. I’ve turned in final grades, syllabi, and attendance. I just have one other thing to do and it shouldn’t take me more than 30 minutes. I might do it after I finish this post. . . .

Tuesday I volunteered at the manor house and gave a tour to two lovely people. Then, I went to work at the bar. I had a few regulars who stopped in and brought Christmas treats with them— homemade cookies from one and Godiva truffles from another. Those little things sure do make this a wonderful time of the year! Tuesday or Wednesday I went to the bank and paid off my car! I am beyond excited about this!

Wednesday I went shopping to get a few last minute Christmas things– tape and wrapping paper to name a few. Then, I made cookie dough for Thursday. I was supposed to go out for date night with my BF, but after having been out shopping most of the day and doing this that and the other I just felt sort of run down. He picked up Chinese food on the way home and we watched Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and turned in early for once.

Thursday I was in the kitchen almost from the time I woke up to the time that I went to bed! I made 8 dozen cookies. Three were sugar cookie cutouts that I decorated with the help of my mom and BF and the other 5 were two types of jam filled thumbprints– one regular (half with almonds, half without) and peanut butter thumbprints. I filled them with grape jelly, plum jelly, and chocolate sauce.

While my mom and BF were working on cookies, I made honey mustard glazed chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, and green bean almondine. After dinner, it was back to cookie decorating!

This morning, I finished my skirt– Project #2 on my sewing list for the year. Here I am modeling it:

Skirt! Project # 2

I have been wanting to finish it for quite some time, but just never was able to get to it!  So, I did it today!  It looks a lot different than my original idea, but that happens sometimes.  I wanted to make it two layers with one longer than the other, but I messed up my modifications almost from the get-go!  I had 4 panels and I sewed them together to make two panels of double layer.  But, I put them together wrong and the top layer was wrong side out.  So, I fixed that as best that I could.  Then, I couldn’t get the hem length right.  Also, I had a dickens of a time sewing a circular hem straight.  The original pattern had a zipper, but I didn’t want to put in a zipper.  I wanted to have a thick elastic band.  Anyway, in the end I wound up cutting the top layer off and just making it a single layer skirt.  There are some minor imperfections in it, but nothing too big that I won’t wear it at least once.  That’s part of my goal with sewing— to get better.  And, sometimes you have to make mistakes to learn.

My goal in the next few days is to do my “Best of” and “Worst of” voting for all Semester outfits.  Look for those polls to be up soon!  Also, don’t forget to leave me a comment below.  I miss hearing from you.
