This week marks the last week of classes for Fall 2017.  It’s always a bittersweet time– I’m happy to be done, but also sad that it’s over, too.  Monday I didn’t grab any photo’s but my outfit merely consisted of my cream-colored maternity shirt with lace overlay and maternity khaki’s.  Not a very exciting outfit to say the least.  My outfit on Wednesday was slightly more exciting, but not by much.

I started with a purple maxi dress.  I had the idea to wear the polka dot khaki scarf and then my brown flat riding boots.  I had originally thought about an oatmeal colored cardigan but the one that I thought of didn’t look right.  It was too long and looked sloppy.  Instead, I opted to go more monochromatic and go with a purple cardigan.  The cardigan is a slightly darker shade of purple but I went with it anyway.  Instead of my brown riding boots I went with my tan suede-like booties.  They are a closer match to the color of the infinity scarf, too.  Lastly I added my oversized gold watch and gold dangle earrings and called it complete.

I don’t know what it was but that day I was feeling extra-large and pregnant.  I am currently at 35 weeks so I’ve got 5 more weeks until my actual due date.  But, I’ve talked with my daughter and told her that anytime after 37 weeks I’d be overjoyed to hold her in my arms.  (We’ll see what happens.)

Baby Class

The other day I was at Wal-Mart and I broke down and bought a pair of their super-soft jersey leggings and a 1x plus sized top to go with them.  The leggings were $6 and the shirt was $7, so all-in-all I spent $14 for a new outfit.  And you know what?  I am super glad that I did!  It has been harder and harder to get dressed lately.  I’ve got 2 more days of class and then 2 days of exams that I’ll need outfits for and then a few things here and there.  Other than that, I can pretty much just live in my pajamas the rest of the time.

I wore my new outfit to work on Friday and I was not only comfortable but I felt somewhat pulled together and cute.  In fact, I wore the leggings (with a different top) again on Saturday to Baby Class.  My husband and I chose the expedited class that just focused on Labor and Delivery for First Time Parents since it was Saturday and Sunday from 9-3:30.  That time fit in to our schedules way better than the other option of 4 weeks in a row for a few hours each night.

I didn’t snap any pics of the leggings with the grey shirt that I wore them with first, but I did get a few of the second version of the outfit.

I finished off this super-comfy look with my silver watch, silver hoop earrings, and black calf-height boots.  What do you think?  Are you a fan or is it too much of a cliché?

Wednesday I based my outfit off of the pin on the left.  I pinned it awhile ago and I really like how she is rocking a midi length skirt, the grey booties, a white shirt, denim jacket, and scarf.  It’s dressy yet comfortable looking and with the muted tones of blue and grey in the skirt it just screams “FALL!” to me.  I re-created this look using items that I have in my closet.  The length and color pattern of the dress I bought for my baby shower worked perfectly in my recreation of this outfit.

I would have liked to layered a white t-shirt over the top of the dress to make it look like two separate pieces but I need a new white t-shirt– the one that I would normally wear has a stain and needs replaced.  Instead, I went with a white v-neck sweater.  It worked out o.k., but as I would move and shift throughout the day the sweater would creep up over my big ‘ol baby belly.  Sadly, I found myself tugging it down throughout the day.  I added my dark denim jacket and rolled the cuffs like in the original photo.  Because the colors in my skirt are different from hers I chose to go with a pink scarf— not to mention that I don’t have a plain grey scarf.  Lastly, I thought about my tan suede booties with this outfit but I didn’t think that they good and so I went with silver mary janes.

This is the fourth time that I have styled this dress.  The first time I wore it was at our housewarming/baby shower and I went with a magenta pink cardigan.  The second time I wore it to class to teach and paired it with an olive-green cardigan and brown flats.  The third time that I wore it was to my second baby shower and I layered black leggings underneath and a black cardigan over top (not pictured.)

So far this dress has been a great purchase and I know that I will be able to wear it postpartum, also.
