Monday I decided to re-wear this teal dress from earlier in the semester.  Right now, I am basically going back through all of the stretchy dresses that I can still wear and re-wearing them in a more Fall-like manner.  And, as it turns out it was time to wear this teal sleeveless shift dress.  I combed through Pinterest, which is something that hasn’t been too useful to me lately, but this time it was!  I found 3 viable options for styling this dress that are different from how I’ve worn it in the past.

First, was to pair it with an equally saturated and jewel-toned royal blue blazer and brown accessories.  Second, was to go with a khaki blazer and more neutral accessories and third, was to pair it with a pastel yellow cardigan.  Obviously, you can see which option won.  The main reason that I opted for the cardigan was because my blazers don’t really fit very comfortably at this point in my pregnancy.  And, honestly I really liked pairing the pastel color with a deep and rich tone.  I thought that it seemed unexpected but pulled-together and polished.  I further pulled in the lighter colors with a gold and cream layered necklace, cream and white chevron circle earrings, a gold watch, and leopard print ballet flats.  I was originally going to go with brown but I thought that the animal print could bring one more fun element to the party without going overboard.

Here are some of the ways that I’ve styled this dress in the past (bottom row, L is earlier this semester when I was pregnant.)

Sunday morning my husband and I needed to make a quick trip to Walk-Mart and then went grocery shopping.  I was pretty proud of this outfit that I put together.  However, he didn’t really comment on it which made me wonder if it looked O.K.  But, at this point in my pregnancy (8 months officially) I am done being over-conscious of how I look.  And, it’s not that I want to go out looking sloppy or unkempt, but when it comes to something like a super-duper fashionable outfit– I don’t have many options.  And, let’s not even talk about how I’ve been reduced to only a portion of my shoe options!

Anyway.  I was so proud of this outfit that I wore it again to work on Tuesday.  Shhh, don’t tell.  Later that night, I did ask my husband what he thought of it and he replied that, “it’s fine.  It’s just leggings and a t-shirt.”  And, he is right– but I did explain to him that “just leggings and a t-shirt” at 8 months pregnant is sort of monumental.

Fall Plaid

Monday was cooler for the temperature and I wanted something soft and cozy.  This sweater fits the bill perfectly.  I wanted to pair it with a skirt, but none of my skirts can accommodate my bump so I improvised and pulled this plaid sweater over a black faux wrap dress.  I tried it with my flat black riding boots but it didn’t look right so I opted to go with nude hose and black wedge flats.  I paired it with red and gold earrings and an oversized gold watch.  I really like this sweater– it’s maternity and it is so comfortable but it isn’t wearing well– I’ve washed it probably less than 5 times and it is already starting to pill.  Luckily, it didn’t cost a ton and it’s not a sweater that I will need to have in my wardrobe for years and years and years.  But, still.  The last time that I wore this sweater to teach in I paired it with black dress pants and red ballet flats.  I can’t say that I’ve really created very adventurous outfits but I don’t have too many options at this point, lol.
