Yellow Vibes

Yellow is not a color that is featured heavily in my wardrobe.  It’s not one of my favorite colors and with my blonde hair I often find that it is hard to pull off.  But, I do have a few yellow items and it seems that I’ve gravitated towards the sunshine color lately!  Last week I paired a pastel yellow cardigan with a deep teal jewel toned dress.  Today, I went with a bright yellow blouse anchored by black trousers and a leopard print blouse.

Yellow and leopard print is not a new/wild/creative/out-of-the-box combination.  As you can see, I’ve paired the same yellow blouse with the same leopard print cardigan twice before–once in a professional outfit with a brown skirt and once in a more casual pairing with jeans.  I’ve also done a lighter, pastel yellow sleeveless shirt with the leopard print cardigan, dark wash skinny jeans, and sandals for a Spring-time outfit.  Lastly, I’ve done a gold yellow sweater and a mustard yellow sweater with two different leopard print scarves and skirts.  Knowing that I’ve done this shirt and cardigan combo. before I actually tried my outfit with a Kelly green blouse.  However, that blouse could not accommodate my pregnant body.

Sunday morning my husband and I needed to make a quick trip to Walk-Mart and then went grocery shopping.  I was pretty proud of this outfit that I put together.  However, he didn’t really comment on it which made me wonder if it looked O.K.  But, at this point in my pregnancy (8 months officially) I am done being over-conscious of how I look.  And, it’s not that I want to go out looking sloppy or unkempt, but when it comes to something like a super-duper fashionable outfit– I don’t have many options.  And, let’s not even talk about how I’ve been reduced to only a portion of my shoe options!

Anyway.  I was so proud of this outfit that I wore it again to work on Tuesday.  Shhh, don’t tell.  Later that night, I did ask my husband what he thought of it and he replied that, “it’s fine.  It’s just leggings and a t-shirt.”  And, he is right– but I did explain to him that “just leggings and a t-shirt” at 8 months pregnant is sort of monumental.

I can’t believe that we are in week 9 of the semester!  I have 3 courses this semester and other than using a different text and online learning management system I have kept most things the same.  But, this semester feels different.  I don’t feel that I have reached the same level of relationship with these classes at week 9 that I have in the past with classes.  With my evening class we are pretty close.  Everyone has settled in and gotten used to each other.  But, I am struggling with my other two classes and I don’t know how to fix it.  It’s really bumming me out.

On Monday I went with Fall shades of olive-green and khaki.  I started with the maternity khaki pants and then built the outfit from there.  I was hoping that this sleeveless button-up blouse could still work and for the most part, it did.  It had enough give at the bottom to accommodate the bump without getting hiked up and showing my belly.  Plus, it’s longer in the back so it gave me some coverage on the boot-ay as well.  But, if I’m being honest it doesn’t really work in the bust area.  If the blouse sits just right it’s fine, but otherwise the second button is straining and gaping.  I did wear a white tank top underneath but that gave little help.  I went with an olive-green boyfriend cardigan over top, brown Oxford style shoes with a slight heel, green and silver statement earrings, and my silver watch.  This is about as good as it gets for a Monday afternoon at 29 weeks pregnant.
