Real Pants

Monday, January 1st, was my husbands birthday.  We didn’t have any big mind-boggling plans given the fact that we are fast approaching my due date (Jan. 8) and basically on Baby Watch.  Also, his birthday does tend to get overlooked since it is also a “holiday.”  I do everything that I can to make sure that we celebrate him and his birthday but that’s the bad part about having a birthday on or near a holiday.

We rang in the New Year with champagne (for him) and sparkling white grape juice (for me) while toggling back and forth between the Ryan Seacrest and Steve Harvey celebrations on t.v.  After we rang in the new year I gave him his birthday presents.  He had asked for some new workout gear so I got him a new pair of running shorts, t-shirt, and some athletic pants in size tall that aren’t floods.  Also, I bought him a Bob Ross chia pet and some other little things.

We went to bed around 2am and then had a lazy day.  We did need to go grocery shopping and he has been talking about wanting wings so I suggested that we go out to dinner to celebrate his birthday and then go grocery shopping after.  He agreed and I got showered and dressed.  I was quite proud of myself for putting on real pants to go out to dinner.  I paired my khaki maternity pants with a navy and white striped maternity t-shirt and added a brown grandpa style cardigan for warmth.  Lastly, I slid my feet into my knock-off Sperry’s and called it good to go.

After dinner we went to the grocery store but they had closed early for the holiday which we were not aware of.  It wasn’t too heartbreaking though since neither one of us really wanted to go grocery shopping.  LOL.  So, we came back home and just hung out the rest of the night.

I am 39 weeks pregnant and ready to get this show on the road.  I am just trying to take one day at a time and not be too whiny or complain-y.  I’m not sure I’m doing too good of a job but I am trying.

Hi!  I am alive and still very much pregnant.  I am working on an end of year/New Year’s Resolution post that I hope to have up soon but everything is touch and go at the moment while I try to navigate through the last few weeks of pregnancy with some sort of grace and composure.

This week’s weather was all over the place– it was in the 60’s, down in the 30’s, it rained, it snowed.  When Mother Nature is confused like that it can make getting dressed each morning a challenge.  But, here’s what I wore to work this past week.

This blush colored top is one of the items that I bought on my shopping spree a week ago.  I’ve been wanting to wear it but the weather hasn’t been cooperating.  Here I am wearing it with very dark wash skinny jeans and a 3/4 sleeved gold cardigan.  I wasn’t sure what shoes to wear and on an impulse I grabbed these gold ballet flats and tried them out.  I really liked the way that they looked!  I almost never wear them and when I did my big shoe inventory last year I put them on the chopping block.  But, this may just be their saving grace.  I added a silver watch and my pink “lucky” turtle necklace.

I returned back to my volunteer position on Wednesday.  It was the first Wednesday of the season.  We have a dress code so I wore khaki pants, a white dress shirt, and a navy cardigan.  I accessorized with a silver and blue necklace.  I had intended to change before class that evening but I didn’t.  I also didn’t take any photo’s.

This outfit turned out better than expected!  I actually wasn’t too sure about it and then when I was importing the photos I realized that I really like it.  It’s based on these pins here, here, and here.  All three of those pins are a blue and white gingham shirt, jeans, and a cardigan.  Two of them feature a regular style brownish/gold cardigan and one is a boyfriend style in an oatmeal color.  Two of the outfits have brown cognac belts, one features a long pendant necklace and distressed jeans.  The other two have normal skinny jeans and either burgundy heels or booties.  My outfit is my creation from the 3.

On Friday it snowed!  I had to bust out the cold weather gear and I did that by layering this pink button-down shirt over a long-sleeved white t-shirt and then topping it with a white frost free vest.  On the lower half I went with medium wash skinny jeans and my cognac flat riding boots.

I finished the week out with another casual outfit of my cropped Mickey sweatshirt, distressed boyfriend jeans, and white leather Converse.  Casual and comfy.

What do you think?  Which outfit is your favorite?
