The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Monday evening I decided that I wanted to wear a skirt or a dress because I have been wearing pants a lot lately.  If I didn’t have a blog, I would just wear whatever I felt like, but is important to me that I push myself out of my comfort zone and my blog helps me to achieve that.  I clicked back through the gallery to see some of the items that I’ve worn earlier this semester.  I really enjoyed the post Repeats and Manipulation where I showed how I’ve worn the same items differently.

I picked a dress that I’ve worn a handful of times.  The challenge with this dress is styling it differently because it has a limited color palette of purple, white/cream, and black.  Also, it has a faux belt that ties in the back.  Here is how I toughened up this dress earlier the semester with a leather jacket, last semester with a black cardigan, and one of the first times that I wore it all by itself.

All three times that I’ve worn this dress I’ve gone with black shoes and nude legs. Two out of the three times I’ve worn a black topper–once a cardigan and once a black leather jacket. This time I didn’t do anything extraordinary or amazing, but I did do something different from a black topper and nude legs.

In class we talked about special occasion speeches. Now that we are at the end of the semester, I think that my students are able to understand that not every speech follows the template that our textbook teaches, but that there are more exceptions to the rule. The last few chapters in the book are pretty easy to get through and it makes class easy-going.

This semester is almost in the books! I meet with my students once more and then it’s time for exams! My students don’t have to take a written final, but they do have to deliver their persuasive speech. I’m not sure if that’s better, or worse.
