Week 11

Posted by writergrll. Comment (0).

For some reason, this week has been one tough cookie!  Across all 3 sections of my class, Effective Speaking, my students are really having trouble.  I don’t know what it is about the past few weeks but they are not putting forth the same amount of effort as they were previously.

I’m not sure if its something in the air or what, but I wish I knew so that I could fix it!  I thought that after Spring break my students would come back feeling refreshed, renewed, and recharged.  But, it has been quite the opposite.  Instead they are whining about how difficult the class has gotten and about the quick turn around expected from them in regards to assignments and speeches.  I have done everything that I can think of to prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead, but they are not doing their part.

I have spent plenty of time soul-searching and have determined that my expectations are not absurd.  We are almost 75% through our time together and they are not using the information that they have been taught.  They are having difficulty applying that knowledge.  I can’t do it for them, which is what I think that they would want.

Enough negativity!  Here are the outfits that I wore for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week:

I didn’t have time on Monday to pick out my outfits for the week, so I actually spent very little time in the creative process this week.  I just pulled this outfit together because I needed to wear a dress on Tuesday and I wanted to wear my sheer black hose after being reminded how amazing and sexy they make your legs look Monday night watching DWTS.  (Not that I should be focusing on making my legs look sexy, but y’know!)

I had originally conceived this idea with a red blazer, but my red blazer has a hook and eye closure and it didn’t look right with the dress.  Eventually, I went with the red cardigan that you see here.  And, to bring more color and interest to the outfit I added the wooden bead necklace in the red-orange color.  Voila!

The idea for this outfit came from a pinterest pin.  It featured a structured teal dress, skinny black belt, and professional accessories.  I tried to re-create the feel and look of that outfit with pieces from my closet.  Also, when I looked into my archives at other ways that I’ve worn this dress I notice that I often pair it with black but in the form of my hosiery.  So, I decided to go with nude legs for a more Spring time feel.  Also, instead of going with a black blazer or cardigan I went with a monochromatic look and wore this teal blazer.  I thought that I had worn in to my M/W class before, but it turns out that I had not and it was the perfect completer piece for this look!
