Worth a Try

Posted by writergrll. Comment (1).

The other day I combed my Pinterest board for some outfit inspirations and I am glad that I did.  This outfit caught my eye because it looks pulled together and professional but it is so unusual!  First, I would almost never think to combine dark brown and grey on my own.  Nor would I necessarily go for this silhouette– fitted on top and wide-legged on the bottom, but there is something about the color combination and the proportions that I really liked.  And that inspired me to give it a go.  I don’t know that I love my version as much, but hey– it was worth a try, right?

I started off with these Classic fit wide-legged Calvin Klein grey suit pants.  I remember once upon a time when these didn’t fit very well and I replaced them with the Modern Fit in the same color for my suit.  Luckily, that extra room of the classic fit was exactly what my pregnant belly needed.  Believe it or not these pants are zipped, but they are not buttoned– instead they are safety-pinned closed at the top.  Thankfully, the leopard blouse it juuuuust long enough to cover the waist band without having to pull in the Belly Band.  I had a few options for the topper but the one that I thought most resembled the fit and color of the Pinspiration was this medium brown, chunky cardigan.  Lastly, I was so pumped to wear these brown Oxford shoes.  They have a heel so they worked well with the length of these pants but they aren’t heels so they were pretty comfortable.  Plus, they have a rubber sole so that helps.

What do you think?  Would you try to unusual combination yourself?
